Tooele County, Utah is the second largest county in Utah, and covers 345 square miles of the Great Salt Lake. Located west of Salt Lake City, Tooele County was settled by Mormon pioneers in 1849, but was the native home to Goshute Native Americans prior to their arrival. Settlers built a saw mill upon arriving, and began agricultural endeavors shortly after that. Tooele County also became a popular mining region, and was mined for gold, lead, silver, and zinc in the Oquirrh mountains. 

The Tooele County School District is made up of 23 public schools, including fifteen elementary schools, three junior high schools, and five high schools.
