A Bit About West Jordan, Utah
West Jordan, Utah is a expeditiously growing suburb located in the western part of Salt Lake County. The city stretches between the Jordan River to the east, and the Oquirrh mountain range to the west. Settled in the 1849, West Jordan is rich in pioneer heritage. It was home to the first leather tannery in the western states, and had many mining locations, mills, and farmland. With a vibrant community, West Jordan is consistently growing each year. It is also home to Jordan Landing and many other well-known shopping centers, as well as the Salt Lake Community College campus. There is also a TRAX line that goes through West Jordan with access to all of Salt Lake Valley.
West Jordan has many projects in the works to increase the quality of life of its citizens, including the Briarpatch project which is a region of old downtown West Jordan being formed into park, museum, courthouse, recreation center, and senior center.
West Jordan is also home to much outdoor recreation, including access to the Jordan River trail, a 40-mile long paved biking and walking trail located along the Jordan River. There is also easy access to world-renowned ski resorts, hiking, and paragliding.
